Choosing proofing baskets & bread lames means deciding whether you want a basket pair or a broader sourdough prep kit. Both options cover proofing, but their stated contents point in different directions. Because the prices are close, the practical question is whether you want scoring and dough-handling accessories included or prefer to keep the purchase focused on baskets and liners.
Quick verdict
The quickest answer: choose Banneton Set with Tools when you want scoring and dough handling covered by the same purchase. Choose 9-inch Banneton Set of 2 when the basket pair and liners are the main brief. Neither set has a shape advantage here: both name round and oval baskets.

Where each set wins
- Banneton Set with Tools: It wins when the phrase "with Tools" matches your shopping brief. The named bread lame, replaceable blades, scrapers, whisk, cleaning brush, and blade cover make the package relevant to scoring and dough handling, not just proofing.
- 9-inch Banneton Set of 2: It wins on listed price. At USD 24.99, it is $2.51 below the other set, a concrete difference for shoppers who want to keep the purchase centered on two proofing baskets.
Product notes
Banneton Bread Proofing Basket Set 9" Round & 10" Oval Sourdough Kit with Tools
For shoppers who want proofing, scoring, and dough handling covered in one purchase, the Banneton Bread Proofing Basket Set with Tools has a clear reason to choose: its accessory bundle. It includes a bread lame with five replaceable blades, a dough scraper, a bowl scraper, a dough whisk, a cleaning brush, a blade cover, and two washable linen liners. That breadth gives the set a defined role beyond holding dough during proofing. The concrete limitation is care: the instruction is hand wash only. Choose it when those named scoring and bench tools are useful additions to your routine, and when hand-washing the set is an acceptable part of cleanup.
9" Banneton Bread Proofing Basket Set of 2 - Round & Oval Sourdough starter kit
Basket-first shoppers have a concrete reason to choose the 9-inch Banneton Bread Proofing Basket Set of 2: it pairs round and oval forms, and each basket includes a washable linen liner. The title's "Set of 2" wording also makes the intended quantity easy to understand. Its key limitation is dimension planning. The oval is listed as 9L x 5.5W x 3.15H, while the round is 9D x 3.14H; those measurements use different shape conventions, so anyone planning around an exact footprint should treat each form separately. This is the direct fit for a basket-and-liner routine rather than a purchase centered on scoring accessories.
Final choice by use case
- For scoring and dough handling: choose Banneton Set with Tools. The title's "with Tools" wording directly matches that use case.
- For a basket-first routine: choose 9-inch Banneton Set of 2. Its "Set of 2" wording matches a focused two-basket purchase.
The decision is package breadth versus a basket-and-liner brief. The first set is the clearer match when a bread lame and dough tools are part of the plan; the second fits when the basket pair is the main requirement and scoring accessories are not the deciding factor.
