Choosing the right coffee cleaning & accessories setup is less about adding more gear and more about matching the kit to your Breville machine and maintenance routine. One option emphasizes a broader package with filtration; the other spells out its tablet format and cleaning formulation. The practical decision is whether the package contents or the more specific tablet details matter most.
Quick verdict
Breville Espresso Machine Cleaning Kit is the package-first choice, while CleanEspresso Cleaning Kit is the specification-first choice. Both kits exclude BES880 and BES990 units from batch 1747 and newer, so machine fit should come before the final purchase decision.

Where each product wins
- Breville Espresso Machine Cleaning Kit: wins if the explicit
40 Tablets and 6 Water Filterspackage wording matches your maintenance plan. - CleanEspresso Cleaning Kit: wins if the explicit 2-gram tablet detail and degreaser formulation are the attributes you care about most.
These are different buying priorities, not proof that one kit cleans better. The listed information distinguishes package contents and formulation, but it does not establish a performance ranking.
Product notes
Breville Espresso Machine Cleaning Kit
The Breville Espresso Machine Cleaning Kit combines tablets intended to remove grease accumulation with coconut-shell charcoal filtration aimed at chlorine, calcium, odor, and impurities. That gives it a concrete reason to choose when machine cleaning and water treatment belong in the same maintenance plan. Its limitation is model fit: BES880, including Barista Touch, and BES990 units from batch 1747 and newer are excluded, while Barista Express, BES860XL, BES870XL, BES900XL, 800ESXL, BES980XL, and Oracle are named among compatible machines. For an excluded model, the kit's broader package does not overcome that stated boundary. It is most appealing when the combined cleaning-and-filtration role is more useful than a narrowly specified tablet format.
CleanEspresso Cleaning Kit
CleanEspresso focuses on oily buildup inside machine parts, giving it a concrete reason to choose for a routine aimed at keeping internal espresso-machine components clean. Its tablet-centered wording and named degreaser formulation make the cleaning approach easy to identify. The limitation is the higher listed price than the Breville kit, so that more specific formulation detail needs to match your priorities before the extra upfront spend makes sense. The kit names Breville models such as Barista Express, BES860XL, BES870XL, BES900XL, 800ESXL, BES980XL, and Oracle. Choose it for the oily-buildup focus and clearly stated tablet details; numeric tablet specifications alone do not establish better performance.
Final choice by use case
- For the package that explicitly says `40 Tablets and 6 Water Filters`, choose Breville Espresso Machine Cleaning Kit.
- For a kit that identifies 2-gram tablets and a degreaser formulation, choose CleanEspresso Cleaning Kit.
- For BES880 or BES990 units from batch 1747 and newer, choose neither kit. Both products explicitly exclude those machines.
The cleanest tie-breaker is package breadth versus formulation detail, followed by machine fit. That keeps the choice grounded in the concrete differences between these two Breville-focused cleaning kits.
